Philth - Perfect Moments EP

We love to be surprised here at DnBjunkie. And it really makes our day to discover new artists that really deserve a little more exposure than they are credited for. Today we recieved a promo message from a Label called Peer Pressure around an artists named Philth, who’s tracks more than exceeded expectations…

Here’s what his label, Peer Pressure, had to say about the man himself:

Bass-fond Philth has been busy making a name for himself over the past year or so, exploring the cracks and crevices of drum and bass and eking out a sound that’s as personal to him as it is heavy and lucid. Mostly he concerns himself with making subs tremor under the weight of his production, however the “Perfect moments” release sees fewer shadows and explores his lighter side. That’s not to say he’s gone soft. He may be having a melodic hiatus, but his beats still bite hard.

We Fear Silence will bash heads with Tom ‘Klute’ Wither’s Commercial Suicide label on Saturday 2nd June here at Cable. After a truly momentous outing back in 2011, the C.S. crew were well overdue a return to London Bridge.

Klute’s Commercial Suicide imprint has been releasing forward-looking Drum & Bass since it’s birth in 2001. The London based label was started due to Klute’s thirst to release his own unsigned material. Since then the label has surpassed the half century mark with releases from the likes of Amit, Break, Gridlok, Bulletproof, Dub Phizix, Concord Dawn & Calibre and has proved itself to be a prolific force in the world of D&B.

And so the the music… Boss man Klute will lead the affray with his Techno influenced breed of Drum & Bass which draws on the flavours of house, dub and progressive. Meanwhile C.S. buddy Nymfo will also celebrate the release of his latest album, ‘Characters’ on said imprint, with one of his trademark tough-edged performances. Calibre, who boasts releases on Metalheadz and Signature Records as well as the aforementioned, will bring his bag of tricks to the table, as will Manc spinner Marcus Intalex who’ll show off his genre spanning beats and bass sound. Offering up a solid foundation for the rave is D&B vet Dom & Rowland who’ll take things a little darker, 4 man collective Vicious Circle with their techy future funk sound and NZ man Presha who’ll treat us to a lesson in sub-sonic grooves.

Regae Beats Remixed - Inna Nice Up! Fashion (Serial Killerz & Dub Pistols remixes)

This release features brand new drum and bass remixes of 2 classic Fashion Record tracks, Andrew Paul - Who’s Gonna Make the Dance Ram and Pato Banton - Nice Up the Session, by DnB heavyweights Serial Killaz and dance veterans the Dub Pistols.

The tracks have been picked up by many DJs already receiving airplay from Heatwave on Rinse FM, Toddla T on Radio One and DJ Hype and Sir David Rodigan on KISS FM.

This package follows the digital relaunch of the legendary label Fashion Records earlier this year. The relaunch has had strong support from the Reggae community with articles appearing in Dummy Mag, Echoes, The Wire and United Reggae to name a few. Chris and John were also invited onto David Rodigans radio show on KISS FM to talk about the relaunch and to play some of their favourite Fashion tracks. Inna Nice Up! Fashion is the first remix package, with lots more exciting hook ups to come.

Words Matter - A Future Thinkin Compilation

A rep from Future Thinkin Records dropped by to let us know about their forthcoming dnb album - Words Matter.

We think it sounds promising, but we’ll leave you to form your own opinion. You can hear sample clips from the album below



The Words Matter album is due for release on Future Thinkin Digital.

The tracks on the album run the whole gamut of contemporary drum & bass music, from storming, amen-led dancefloor-crushers, to quiet, contemplative rollers. No matter the style though, the quality of production on the album is unstinting.

Fifteen amazing tracks from a huge variety of international producers, this release only adds to the reputation that the Future Thinkin label has built up. The tracks, in the main, take a vocal element, and transport it far, far away. With this album, the label are “asking the question, making the statement, asking you to think about how important words are to music and to us all.”
