We’ve had a load of stelar tracks dropped into the dnbjunkie mailbox over the weekend. After careful deliberation over which tracks to get up on the blog and in which order, we’re going with the age old first come first serve.
We’ll start the proceedings by introducing Mikal with The Chant / Headbanger EP. The chant (audio attached) is a moody roller that packs a punch! Take a listen to the audio clip an be your own judge. The EP is the 8th release on what appears to be a relatively new label to DnB, Utopia Music.
Utopia Music is the brainchild and life-long ambition of Mako. It was established in 2009, out of a desire for the family to have their own imprint and identity in which not only to showcase their own ever-increasing catalogue of music, but also to other artists who have a similar style and approach.
After receiving the track we headed over to the Utopia Music releases page to check out the rest of their discography. Truth be told its well worth having a browse through all releases (1 through to 8). If you like deep/liquid rollers we think you will love the first release with break on the A-side and a DBridge remix on the flip!
In our eyes, one of the most underrated producers in liquid dnb. Check out this amazing track from Technicolour featuring Komatic, Release date summer 2010 on Technique Recordings.
“LTJ Bukem’s commitment to the cause and his tireless fusion of musicality into the breakbeat heavy drum & bass scene has been heavily documented and with his regular session down here in the elongated hall of Room Two he’s been continuing that quest constantly. This month inviting SpectraSoul, the Brighton based duo whose stripped back and driving productions like ‘Alibi’ blossomed out of the over saturated scene a couple of years back and London based duo Artificial Intelligence, proves that Bukem’s ears are clearly still on the money.”
Netsky, new signee to Hospital Records and arguably the biggest up and coming act within the drum and bass scene today now has his very own website. You can find out everything you need to know about this new superstar on his website located at www.netskymusic.com. The website makes for a very interesting read, with video and music clips from his forth coming album, aswell as tour dates, pictures, mixes etc. Have a rumage around and get to know.
In contrast to our last post, here’s a track from the dutch producer Lenzman, featuring vocals from Riya. This track is packed full of soulful vibes, smooth basslines, and an amazing vocal. Due for future release on MetalheadZ.
“”Hyper Hyper” is the convulsing electro D+B anthem which has been mashing up dancefloors and airwaves since it began to appear in the sets of A-listers at the turn of the year. Instantly recognisable from its infectious chromatic synth riff, it’s already being championed by the likes of Subfocus in Mixmag – crossing outside the confines of D+B into the wider world.
Beautifully contrasting flipside “Set Me Free” shows Nu:Tone’s diversity as a producer. Honing in on the current vogue for minimal sounding rhythm tracks – as usual Nu:Tone surpasses the technical ability of his peers with a mixdown that is sonically huge. This is the kind of tune which draws you in with its simplicity, subtlety and detail and just won’t let you go!” (Hospital Records, 2010).
“With Sabre’s mighty album ‘A Wandering Journal’ set to drop on Critical Music on Monday 29th March 2010 consisting of a 3 piece vinyl, CD and digital format. The man himself has found time in his busy schedule to lay down a 30 minute journey starting off with a deeper soundscape which then develops into something more tempo driven and tougher beats wise. The mix features tracks from the scenes hottest producer talent with usual suspects such as Zero T, Alix Perez and Data. Sabre draws some filthy tracks from Cern’s upcoming LP as well as representing the new breed playing beats from UK based writers FD, Judda, Stray and Hybris, all in all the podcast should satisfy a wide range of music fans as well as showcasing Sabre’s talents behind the decks”

NETSKY, possibly one of the biggest up and coming producers in the scene today, netsky has rocketed his way into stardom with a surge of amazing liquid releases on 12” over the past few months. Due to the uniqueness of his sound and quiality of his production netsky has landed himself under the hospital books as their latest signing. We are excited to see how things develop over the coming months.
Netsky certainly has been producing the goods recently, i figured it would be awfully selfish of me not to share more of his work with you. It was a difficult choice as most of his tunes are so plesant, have a listen and be sure to go and search for more material from this up and coming producer/dj/star.
